Associate Professor Anthony Tosi from Kent State University, the United States, visited the Faculty of Engineering at Yamaguchi University

On Friday, June 7, Associate Professor Anthony Tosi from the Department of Anthropology at Kent State University visited the Faculty of Engineering at Yamaguchi University. The relationship between Kent State University and Yamaguchi University began in 2018 when a staff member from our university participated in an international program by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. In 2019, Associate Professor Tosi visited Yamaguchi University, met with the International Affairs Division, and toured the campus. In 2021, Ms. Ai Matsunaga, Chief of the General Affairs and Planning Section of the Faculty of Engineering, was dispatched to Kent State University under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s Long-term Educational Administrators Program for International Exchange (LEAP), leading to increased collaboration.

This was Associate Professor Tosi’s first visit to the Faculty of Engineering, where he received a presentation from Ms. Chisa Yamada, the Overseas Training Program Officer at the Overseas Dispatch Support Office of the Engineering Education Research Center, on the systematic global engineer training curriculum and unique overseas training programs implemented by the Faculty of Engineering. Following this, discussions were held with Director Hirotoshi Mori of the Overseas Dispatch Support Office and Ms. Matsunaga about the potential for developing a short-term language training program between both parties. Additionally, Associate Professor Tosi presented the attractions of Kent State University and Ohio. The meeting progressed in a friendly atmosphere, concluding with a campus tour of the Faculty of Engineering.

We hope to continue these discussions gradually to develop meaningful programs for students from both universities.
